Gabby's Miracle Foundation

Project Gabby's "B"

Gabby with blanketOur blankets are handmade with love for children with cancer and other life-threating conditions.

The blankets are donated to help comfort the children that are hurting, giving them a sense of security and to let them and their families know they're not alone. Our mission is to reach as many children as possible. As long as there is a need we want to help.

All blankets will be donated to Children's Hospital of Seattle.

If you would like to get involved, we need your help in these areas:

Donating towards the purchase of materials, which is polar fleece in fun colors and prints for girls and boys.

Drawing by GabbyTestimonial of how important the blankets are to children with cancer
I recently received a phone call from Gabby’s doctor who works at Children’s Hospital.  She told me a story I’d like to share with you.

We’ve been taking blankets and pillows to the Hospital through the Foundation, and because of what she shared with me, I realize how important this is to the children we give these to.

The 6th floor at Children’s is the Oncology floor; on that floor they deal with all different types of cancer.  It’s divided up into different groups depending on the type of cancer, with teams of doctors that specialize in that certain cancer.

One of the doctors that deal with leukemia patients saw our blankets and asked the neurology (brain cancer) team about it.  The doctor went on to say that she’s seeing a little girl around 4-5 years old that has recently moved here for treatment and was having a rough time adjusting.

The doctor knew she loved monkeys and we just happened to have a monkey blanket in the bag.  She took the blanket and gave it to the little girl at her next appointment.  The little girl immediately buried her face in it and began to cry.

Later, as they were leaving, the girl’s mom asked her if she wanted her old blanket and she answered, “No way, I have a monkey one now!”

These blankets may not seem like much, but they are touching these children who need comfort.  They are a bridge that helps build trust and relationships between the doctors and their little patients. Thank you to all who have contributed to this project.
