Gabby's Miracle Foundation, founded by Joel and Dana Preston, was started in memory of their daughter Gabrielle Alexandria Preston. As a foundation, our heart is to help children and families battling cancer. Most importantly, to provide hope to families when there seems to be none. To be a "life-light", an un-extinguishable light in the midst of darkness.

Gabby's Story

In the last 2 weeks of July, 2005, we began to notice that our 5 year old daughter, Gabby, was losing mobility of her left side. We took her to Children's Hospital of Seattle where they did a CAT scan. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor that was about one third the size of her brain. It began at her brain stem and ended at the cortex of her brain. A biopsy showed that it was an aggressive Malignant Oligodendroglioma tumor.

For one year Gabby fought the toughest battle of her life as she went through radiation, chemotherapy and surgery to debulk the tumor. Gabby always had a smile, and the ability to appreciate the little things in life only kids can enjoy. During that year, she touched more lives around her than most of us do in a lifetime. And it's incredible to see how she's still touching lives through the foundation!

As a mom, I think something like this changes you forever... you never look at your children the same again, each look is filled with a little more love and sometimes when you stop to notice the beauty around you, your eyes fill up with tears because of how thankful you are... take each moment and cherish it close to your heart... each time you hug your children, you hold on a little tighter and whisper, "I love you"....
